Meta-Description

A short text (up to approximately 156 characters) that describes the content of an HTML document. It should aim to give the user a very good idea of the content in one or two sentences.

The meta description appears in the search results list as part of a snippet below the title. If the author does not add their own description, Google generates text from the first few lines of the web page or from phrases surrounding the keywords.
