Overview<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A Web Application Firewall (WAF)<\/strong>‘s role is to filter incoming requests to a HTTP server. This module analyzes the requests received by using a database of request rules considered as unwanted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can enable or disable the web application firewall and customize its rules. It is also possible to view the firewall history of each domain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to View the Firewall Protection History<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

  1. Go to Security<\/strong> -> Firewall history<\/strong>:<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. Use the Filter by domain<\/strong> drop-down list to refine the search:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

    1. To view the details of an unwanted request, simply click on the down arrow, which appears under ACTIONS<\/strong> :<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

      How to Link the WAF Protection to a Domain Name<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

      1. Go to Security<\/strong> ->\u00a0Web App Firewall (WAF)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      2. To link the entire protection to a domain name, simply activate\u00a0WAF<\/strong>\u00a0by clicking on the slider button under STATUS<\/strong>:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

        How to Customize Rules<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

        It is possible to customize the rules of\u00a0WAF\u00a0for each domain.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        1. Locate the domain for which you need to customize the rules:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n
          \n

          1. Click on the Edit firewall rules<\/strong> icon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          2. In the Web App Firewall rules (WAF)<\/strong> window, fill in the Search<\/strong> field if you are looking for a specific rule to customize:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

            1. Use the slider buttons to customize the rules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            2. Click on Show Subrules<\/strong> icon, if needed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Always customize the rules first. As a last resort, you can disable all the rules, but the site becomes more vulnerable to attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              Meaning of the Rules<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              You can easily know the meaning of each rule:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. In the Web App Firewall rules (WAF)<\/strong> window, locate the rule to be defined:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n

                1. Click on the View rule documentation<\/strong> icon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
                2. A search on “Atomicorp Product Documentation” website is automatically performed.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                  How to Disable ModSecurity (HTTP Error 406)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                  There are several possible causes for an HTTP 406 error. The main one is a brute-force attack on your back office. In fact, there are protections that lock access for around ten minutes by displaying an HTTP 406 error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  If you do not want to take advantage of this protection, you can disable ModSecurity<\/strong>. To do this, in the Web Application Firewall Rules (WAF)<\/strong> window, simply deactivate the modsecurity internal error flagged<\/strong> rule by clicking on the appropriate slider :<\/p>\n\n\n

                  How to Display Disables Rules Only<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                  It may be useful to display only the rules you have deactivated. To do this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

                  1. In the Web Application Firewall Rules (WAF)<\/strong> window, click on the Show disabled rules<\/strong> button:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                        In the Web Application Firewall Rules (WAF) <\/strong>window, click on the Revert to default configuration<\/strong> button, so that the slider buttons are automatically adjusted to the initial state:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
