How to Use FTP Accounts

Overview

As a website owner, you will need to use an FTP (File Transfer Protocol). This protocole is mainly used to transfer large files from a computer to a server or from a server to a computer. FTP is used through softwares such as FileZilla that must be activated by an FTP account.

In this article, you will learn how to create your FTP account. Then, you will use FileZilla to make an FTP connexion in order to send a file on the N0C server (how).

Note: Adding and configuring FTP accounts allows you to rapidly deploy your website online.

Note :The Glossary contains explanations on multiple topics and can be consulted to clarify certain terms.

You can easily obtain this information within the FTP Accounts window.

  1. Click on the FTP settings icon next to the account:
  1. The settings are displayed under the selected account.

Note: FTP/FTPS means “the FTP protocol or its secure version, FTPS (FTP with a TLS connection)”. SFTP is another protocol. Therefore, the FTP and FTPS information to be entered in FileZilla is the same, but the SFTP information is different. For example, port 21 is never used for SFTP.

It depends on the type of hosting you have:  unless otherwise specified, use 5022 for the Port fields.

  1. Click on the Delete icon:
  1. Confirm deletion in the popup.
  1. A confirmation message is then displayed.
