You can use Roundcube’s filters to automatically reply with an out-of-office message to all e-mails sent to your e-mail address.

How to Create an Absence Message in Roundcube
- Click on the Parameters icon.
- Choose Filters:
- Click on the Create button:
- Please fill in the required information:
- Name your absence filter in the Filter name field.
- Filter enabled must be activated.
- If your message is to be sent immediately, select all messages in the Scope drop-down list. Otherwise, please refer to How to Schedule Messages paragraph.
- Choose Reply with message in the Actions drop-down list.
- Fill in the Message body (vacation reason): field.
- Enter the Message subject: (for example, “out of the office”, “vacation”, etc.).
- Enter the Reply sender address:. This is the e-mail address that will be displayed to identify the sender of the out-of-office reply.
- Fill in the My e-mail addresses: field. This is used to indicate for which e-mails you wish the absence message to be displayed automatically.
- Enter 1 in the How often send messages: field.
- Click on the Save button.
- Your absence filter will appear under Filters:

How to Schedule Messages
In certain circumstances, it may be practical to program your absence message to be sent between two defined dates. The approach is exactly the same as in How to Create an Absence Message in Roundcube paragraph, except that you will need to define Rules. Here is how to do it:
- In the Scope drop-down list, select matching all the following rules. The Rules will then appear:
- Using the Rules, define the date range during which you want the absence message to be transmitted:
- your first rule will be Date -> date (yyyy-mm-dd) -> value is greater than or equal to, followed by the start date of the automatic message;
- your second rule will be Date -> date (yyyy-mm-dd) -> value is less than or equal to, followed by the end date of the automatic message.
- Do not forget to save your filter, as explained above.
